Whether you’re feeling inspiration from recent spring cleaning or getting motivated for the upcoming summer season, now is the perfect time for a fresh start. There’s no better way to enter a new healthy lifestyle than with a total system reset. There are many ways to cleanse your system and efficiently detox your body. One option rising in popularity is the Whole30 diet. Whole30 is a month-long plan that resets your body’s relationship with food by eliminating anything in your diet that isn’t essential.
Sugar, grains, dairy, and legumes are stripped away completely for thirty consecutive days. Instead, the diet calls for moderate portions of meat, seafood, and eggs; lots of vegetables; some fruit; plenty of natural fats; and herbs, spices, and seasonings. Ultimately, you’re trying to rid your body of sugars and processed foods in any form.
Taking 30 days to be mindful about the foods that you’re using to fuel yourself really can be a life-changing experience. Cutting out sugar and unhealthy fats totally will have a dramatic impact on your health- both physically and mentally. You’ll experience consistently higher energy levels, more restful sleep, healthier skin, and better digestive health. You’ll also be resetting your mental and emotional relationship with food. Unlike many diets, Whole30 doesn’t offer or encourage any healthy alternatives for sweet favorites. This diet is about more than your weight; in fact, you’re encouraged not to weigh or count calories at all for the thirty days. Once you’ve completed it, the impact will speak for itself.
Of course, these results won’t happen overnight. Actually, I can guarantee they won’t. It will take time for your body to adjust to the change, but like the program says, it’s only 30 days. All detoxes or cleanses take time and commitment, but you’ll be surprised at how great you feel once you’ve finished.
Like any diet or lifestyle change, planning ahead is key. There are a lot of great recipes you can enjoy that meet the Whole30 guidelines. Whether you’re looking for a first step into committing toward a healthier lifestyle, or you’re looking for the next way to take your health and energy to the next level, the Whole30 could be the perfect option for you.
