Healthy Halloween Alternatives

Halloween is quickly approaching, which means temptation will be everywhere for breaking your healthy eating habits. Instead of indulging in sugar this season, take the opportunity to spend time with your loved ones and pass on your healthy eating habits! You can easily make healthy, conscious eating a family affair with a few new festive favorites that your kids will love creating and eating. Check out these ideas for inspiration:

  1. You can probably make these 3-ingredient apple bites with what you already have in your kitchen! These monstrously good treats put a spooky spin on halloween by combining apples, jam or nut butter, and almonds or sunflower seeds. Your kids will love seeing this healthy snack on their plates this October!

  2. These banana monster pops are made out of bananas with vegan white chocolate and coconut shavings or dates to make the perfect healthy alternative this halloween! These delicious pops only take about 20 minutes to make, and the whole family will have fun in the process!

  3. Graveyard taco cups combine thin festive bread shapes with black beans, avocados, garlic, black olives, green onions, and lime juice to create a spooky scene! You can make them in individual cups for appetizers or snacks, or make an entire graveyard in a pan for halloween dinner!

  4. Lastly, celebrate halloween and Christmas together with these gluten-free vegan gingerbread skeleton cookies! You can easily whip up a simple icing out of powdered sugar and coconut milk  to decorate. They’re a perfect way to satisfy your sweet tooth this season without too much sugar!

While it’s of course okay to treat yourself every now and then, it’s always important to know what you’re putting into your body and that you’re maintaining a balance.
